Counting Sheep

A lone shepard stood atop the tallest of the rollings hills
At the bottom of the hill his flock grazed in a small cage
They withered with inanition; unable to eat their fill
However content they were for they knew they had a shephard; their sage

Complacency fed them
While hunger killed them
While the shepard watched them

Counting the sheep fall

  1. I suspect that there must be a wolf hidden within somewhere helping the demise of those sheep. Perhaps the shepherd is the wolf?

  4. I find it interesting that your shepherd watched his sheep die of hunger. I remember you telling me that the book you chose for this quarter had sort of influenced your narrative.
In the bible, a good shepherd is depicted as one who natures and cares for his flock, protecting them from dangers, making sure that they do not stray. So, what kind of shepherd, is your shepherd???
If one wanted to, they could liken your shepherd to religious leaders today. The stand and watch their sheep starve. They offer no real solution, no real words from God. The sheep go hungry and believe that their shepherd holds the key to their salvation.
But, they are fed by complacency. Not really wanting to eat.
That is how I interpreted it at least.

  5. It is not their lack of desire to eat it is their ignorance for following false figures. They can make them believe they do not need to eat. The purpose behind this work is to let people realize practicing religion in all ages of humanity is absurd and a tool of controlling. In my eyes a Shepherd is not a friend of sheep, he is a master. He uses them for his benefit. I wrote this hoping that people would realize religion is absurd in its execution. I am not found of religion but if you practice don't adhere your beliefs to a figure like the pope or holy book. Spirituality is corrupted by shepherds.
